2016 Great year for Garden Valley Community Radio!

On July 4th, 2016 we gathered up all of our wonderful volunteer DJs and marched in the Garden Valley Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Parade and we had so much fun celebrating the beginning of our 5th YEAR ON THE AIR! Thank you to all of our supporters, sponsors and listeners for supporting us for 5 years and tuning in 98.5 fm on your radio dial! We still stand out as Boise County's only radio station and we continue to provide information to our community regarding community events, emergency/fire updates, road reports and of course great music! We now have upwards of 15 different DJs so our variety of music is wonderful and our response from the community has been positive. Again, thank you for your support over the years. For detailed daily updates please visit our Facebook Page: Garden Valley Community Radio 98.5 fm. Our phone number at the station is 462-4350, call us Monday-Saturday 9-5 with any requests, updates, community events or just to chat! We are usually on the air live at the top and bottom of the hour but we will try our best to catch your phone call!

Garden Valley Community Radio is an FCC-sanctioned Low Power FM station. LPFM stations are community-based, non-commercial radio stations that operate at 100 watts or less and reach a radius of 3 to 7 miles. As local broadcasters, we are able to highlight music that is not played on commercial radio and bring you the best of very local community news, important community issues, events and information in a timely and efficient manner. Garden Valley Community Radio has strengthened our Valley by providing opportunities for our local community, young and old, to express themselves through music, conversation and courteous debate on local issues. We have been recognized by the Garden Valley Center for the Arts and the Garden Valley Senior Center for increasing attendance and awareness of community events.

Garden Valley has a unique identity and we hope that Garden Valley Community Radio can help to express that identity. How can you become a part of our radio station here at 98.5 FM? Local musicians, artists, storytellers and good old regular folks are encouraged to stop by our station, located in downtown Crouch, Idaho and have a visit! Do you have a story to tell?

We are interested in local issues and courteous debate on topics of concern to our community. We will consider all sides of an issue if the participants can come together in our studio for a moderated debate. We are also part of Boise County's Emergency Management Team. We are Boise County's ONLY media source approved to receive Emergency Alerts and communicate information related to emergency declarations and disasters in Boise County. Our participation with the Incident Management Team during the Whiskey Complex Fire of 2014 was integral to the communication effort for the communities surrounding Garden Valley. Governor Butch Otter was in our studio July 22, 2014 and Garden Valley Community Radio received extremely positive feedback from the Incident Management Team and the Governor of Idaho. We are your approved resource for emergency information.

A message from our Board Chairman, Richard Smith, and a review of our accomplishments in 2014:

"It has been a successful and historic year for KXGV-LP, 98.5, Garden Valley Community Radio. Garden Valley has embraced us and our survey shows that we have many loyal listeners.  This past year we received our FCC license and call letters (KXGV-LP), installed and tested our 50 watt Ramsey transmitter, installed and programmed the EAS system and receiving antennas, purchased a remote broadcast system, installed a surge protector and battery backup power supply and an emergency backup gas generator.  We have 21 active underwriters from our local community (including one from Sweet and one from Boise).  I am very proud of, and grateful for, all our on-air talent who give their time and energy to the station."
